Content creators don't own the conversation, users do.

I think this is especially important. We wrote something along these lines on a blog post a little while back. As most people understand, it's a very difficult balance. Disqus is a tool for publishers, but it's a tool that should bring value to the audience as well. Even though our service is available, it's up to the publishers to adopt the right mindset and allow their readers and content to federate across sites. The more you give, the more you get.

Ro of Disqus pointed me to a couple good articles that talked about this. This article says, “Conversation is king. Content is just something to talk about.”
